About the Painting course

  • The week and weekend courses are run by an experienced painter and teacher, who will be able to give maximum individual help and advice to visitors at any stage of development, including beginners and the experienced amateur artist.

  • The groups are small to allow for personal attention and plenty of working space with an atmosphere that is friendly and informal.

  • Practical demonstrations and talks are given on the application of various media and techniques. A wide variety of subjects are covered; these include, oil and water colour painting, pastel, pen and wash, sketching, together with an appreciation of composition, line, texture, tone and colour mixing.
